GLOBAL UNDERSCORE 2025 Events

The GLOBAL UNDERSCORE (GUS) centers on a yearly dance event, the Global Underscore practice, in which the Underscore is practiced simultaneously for a 4-hour period by people all over the world near the June solstice.

GUS hosts the following events:

• Talk-Among: 24 May 2025, 14:00–16:00 UTC  (10:00 am–12:00 pm EDT New York)
• In-Depth Talk-Through:  14 June 2025, 12:00–14:30 UTC  (8:00–10:30 am EDT New York)
• GLOBAL UNDERSCORE Practice (main event):  21 June 2025, 14:00–18:00 UTC  (10:00 am–2:00 pm EDT New York)
  • GUS Live Streaming — an online video portal connecting GUS sites during the GUS Practice

UNDERSCORE TALK-AMONG: 35 YEARS

The Underscore Talk-Among: 35 Years is an online event to open discussion about the Underscore. This is for anyone who has been working with the material of the Underscore and wants to share their experiences, doubts, stories, experiments, and questions. The Global Underscore team and Bruno Garrote will host.

While this will be offered in English, it is not limited to English. There will be language groups/breakout rooms so people can speak the language they are more comfortable speaking. Then, we will translate reflections when reporting back to the larger group.

Spread the word and let’s TALK AMONG! The format will provide space to talk and think together. Bring your topics, your ideas, and your new glyphs.

Topics. What are the ones you want to bring and explore together?

• How has society changed in the 35 years since the Underscore (25 years since GUS) began? How is the Underscore adapting?
• How have you experienced and used Underscore in classes/events? What’s the frequency that you use and why? Is it difficult? Is it for special occasions?
• What was the most bizarre/curious thing that happened in an Underscore for you?
• Where have you done the Underscore? Water, Nature, Walking Underscore, subways, etc.
• Do you have a specific element or glyph or message you always include?
• How do glyphs translate in different languages? And how do these translations bring other meanings into the Underscore?
• What is essential to you when facilitating/experiencing the Underscore?

IN-DEPTH TALK-THROUGH

In preparation for the GUS 2025 practice, an In-Depth Talk-Through of the Underscore phases, connections, and aspects will be given — by many experienced facilitators from around the world.
