GLOBAL UNDERSCORE 2026 Events

The GLOBAL UNDERSCORE (GUS) centers on a yearly dance event, the Global Underscore practice, in which the Underscore is practiced simultaneously for a 4-hour period by people all over the world near the June solstice.

GUS hosts the following events:

How To Facilitate Your First Underscore

An online (through VooV/Tencent Meeting) 3-week practical exploration in May 2026 of how to facilitate an Underscore: history, philosophy, preparation, logistics, risk management, inclusion and trust building strategies, cultural concerns, practice and community development, and support networks. Commitment to all 3 weeks required, 90-minute sessions, 20 person maximum. Primary Language: Mandarin, with English translation.

Facilitated by Agni/Meng Fan (Shanghai). Hosted by Maru (Hong Kong) with guest speakers: Yu Yanfang (Taiwan), Mimi Lo (Hong Kong), Liao Shuyi (Beijing), Huang Yong (Shanghai), Chen Sihui (Singapore), GUS Coordinators.

In-Depth Talk-Through

In preparation for the GUS practice, an online (through Zoom) In-Depth Talk-Through of the Underscore phases, connections, and aspects will be given — by many experienced facilitators from around the world. There will be multiple viewpoints, different languages, discussion, and some movement time to embody the principles. This is a recorded event. More Info

GUS Live Streaming

An online video portal (through Zoom) that allows dancers at Synchronous GUS Sites to see, hear, and engage in real-time with each other virtually during Global Underscore 2026. Registration is through GUS Site registration. If you desire to register without a GUS Site registration, then contact us.
